Since January 2024, PTE Core has joined IELTS General Training and CELPIP as an English language test officially accepted by the Canadian government for immigration, permanent residence, and many work-related visa applications.

Why Many Candidates Find PTE Core Easier
Less Need for Idea Generation
One of the biggest differences appears in speaking and writing sections.
In PTE Core, writing tasks are highly structured:
- Write Email provides the situation and key points to discuss.
- Respond to a Situation tells you exactly what to address.
- Summarize Written Text requires summarizing existing information.
In IELTS Writing Task 2, candidates must generate ideas, build arguments, provide examples, and organize a complete essay on topics such as education, technology, crime, or the environment.
For many non-native speakers, generating ideas is often more difficult than using English itself.
Writing Scores Are Often Easier to Improve
One challenge that surprises many Canadian immigration applicants is how difficult it can be to achieve high Writing scores in IELTS General.
